Disney World Planning Resources

hollywood-studios

Planning a Disney World vacation is overwhelming to say the least but with the wealth of information and resources at your fingertips, there is no need to pay extra for a travel agent.  If you are willing to invest a little time and take charge of your own vacation, you can be the family hero who planned the best trip ever!  Here is a list of the top web resources I have found and used while planning my getaways.

Touring Plans

Ok…I know the first observation is that you have to subscribe to this site for full access…but I think it’s totally worth it.  They have crowd calendars to help pinpoint not only the the best time of year to go but also the best day for each park.  You can create customized touring plans and have your whole day mapped out for you.  If you are looking for some serious planning help, this is the place to go.

Lines App:  With your Touring Plans subscription, you also get the Lines app.  This is a life-saver to have while at the parks.  You can quickly pull up posted and actual wait times for every attraction.  This alone is a huge planning asset but there’s also menu and pricing info, FastPass+ availability, and the ability to pull up your touring plans….along with a whole bunch more.

Undercover Tourist

This site is best for purchasing discounted park tickets.  You’re not going to find any amazing deals on Disney or Universal tickets but at least this site offers the best discounts I could find.  It also provides a crowd calendar for free.

Easy WDW

Talk about a detailed crowd calendar.  This not only shows you which parks are best to visit which days, it gives you a very detailed explanation for why they think that.

Note:  If you really want to over-analyze your itinerary, compare the crowd calendars from Touring Plans, Undercover Tourist, and Easy WDW.  You should come across a general consensus for the best park to visit each day…and reassurance that you have the absolute best plan possible.

Mousesavers

This site is centered on finding the best discounts for everything and anything.  While not the prettiest site, it will help if you are looking for a deal.

DIS Boards

If you prefer to actually interact online, this is an entire site devoted to Disney discussion forums.  Browse other people’s questions or post some of your own.

WDW Prep School

I only recently discovered this site but it has a wealth of information.  There are touring plans, monthly planning info and schedules, and a whole lot of food and dining information.  I will definitely dig into it more before our next visit.

Disney Tourist Blog

Amazing photos make this site worth checking out!  They also have great planning info, trip reports, and quite a bit of humor mixed in as well.

Mouse Planet

This is a no-nonsense, very factual guide to Disney.  They post weekly articles and up-to-date news.

VRBO

If you are looking to rent a house versus staying on Disney property, don’t be afraid to go directly through the owner and utilize vrbo.  You can filter the searches to find exactly what you want in a vacation home rental.

These are my top picks but there are endless other resources…including the site you are currently on!  Stay awhile and browse around!
